Wainamics is a research and development services company that specializes in micro-fluidic devices for diagnostic and life science clients. We have developed successful devices for applications such as point of care diagnostics testing, including COVID molecular testing, blood cell counting, and biology experiments for NASA’s space flight missions.

We are now seeking a highly motivated leader with an interdisciplinary background in engineering and life-science principles, who thrives in a dynamic, start-up environment. This individual will be responsible for bio-engineering design, system testing and managing our team of engineers and delivering projects on schedule.

Job Description:

This position will work on-site and report directly to the CEO, while interfacing closely with the internal team and customers.  The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Manage and mentor a team of engineers, scientists, and technicians to accelerate research and product development for customer projects.

• Lead/manage projects within Wainamics including providing technical feedback and innovative design ideas to the engineering teams.

• Interact with and engage customers for product development and research purposes; provide feedback to develop requirements

• Designing experiments involving biology, plastic microfluidic cartridges and instrumentation to improve system performance.  

• Plan, coordinate, and execute activity in support of project and team goals.

• Working closely with program management to execute projects on time and budget

• Support design reviews

• Support Project Documentation, including risk management etc.

• Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

 

Necessary qualifications:

• Degree (Ph.D or M.S. preferred) in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• 4-10 years’ industry or relevant experience in problem solving involving life-science tool development, such as material, bio-assay formulation, plastic cartridge development, microfluidics, surface chemistry, process development.

• Experience in Solidwork or equivalent design required.

• Microfluidic or Lab-on-a-Chip product development experience required.

• Experience working with a team in a fast-paced, changing environment.

• Experience in supervision/management of R&D staff

• Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate to within the organization, and with customers.

• Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

• Strong technical problem-solving skills, scientific experimental design, and data analytic skills.

• Familiarity with Design Controls and FDA/ISO13485 quality regulations preferred.

• US work eligibility / US citizenship or permanent residency status required.
